Introducing my Second Photographer

Many of my couples opt to add a second photographer to their wedding packages. Having a 2nd photographer isn’t necessary, but it is certainly nice! As the primary photographer I am looking for the key big moments of your day, but my 2nd photographer is looking to catch mom getting teary eyed or your cute flower girl playing in the aisle. Having a 2nd photographer results in a larger final collection of images and gives my couples more of the side moments that they might have missed in the hustle and bustle of the wedding day.

A second photographer is looking at your wedding day with a different eye and quite literally a different lens. This allows them to capture more candids of guests, the shenanigans happening on the side of wedding party portraits and capture images at a different angle. Having two photographers is a great option for your wedding day and I am happy to introduce you all to my 2nd photographer.

Internet and friends…. meet Brent.

If you think this handsome man looks remarkably like my husband then you are one smart cookie. Brent and I never expected him to become a part of my business, but it seems living this crazy dream with me has sucked him in. His learning started via osmosis when I was first beginning my business. He would hang out with me while I watched video tutorials and read camera manuals. He would quiz me on camera settings and ask me questions about something I had read to him the week before. He was pretty much dragged along while I learned everything I know. Once he was hooked that was the end of his free Saturdays. He has been actively training with me for a while and has already shot an impressive amount of weddings and portrait session. He even photographed a whole session of his own while we were in Belgium (this will be on the blog soon).

Here are a few reasons why Brent is an awesome 2nd photographer:

1. He is always willing to awkwardly stand somewhere so I can test the light.

2. When we are working in a tight timeline he will shoot details while I’m photographing the Bride and Groom.

3. He looks great in a suit

4. He is great at entertaining groomsmen who really just want to go have a beer

5. While I am photographing a group (like the left photo below), he is catching the smaller moments (like the right photo below)

It is such a pleasure to work along side my husband and I am so proud of the images that he has been producing for my clients and the way that he has contributed to their wedding day experience.

One of my Brides even wrote me saying “We especially like the photos from the market, and going through the ones from the reception was great since there was so much we missed! We can’t wait to share these. Please let Brent know how much we liked his photos as well – it was great having some from the gallery, and we really like the ones he took at the market with the m&ms and everything!”

And how about a few bloopers….

I am so happy that I can offer such a wonderful second photographer to my Brides and Grooms. Not only am I confident in the work that he produces, but I know he is more than happy to hold bouquets, carry Bridesmaid’s iPhone in his pockets and generally go above and beyond for the clients that we serve.

I have always been blessed to have Brent’s unwavering support for my business, but now I am even luckier to have him working by my side and helping me achieve my own version of success and happiness.

And since it wouldn’t be very nice of my to just post silly out takes of Brent… please enjoy this ridiculous series of photos that Brent took of me at Alison and Matthew’s wedding (just to be clear… we were testing light for the Grand Entrance but it seems I got a little loopy).
