I am not partial to New Year’s Eve. In my experience, all the best NYE plans fall apart, someone ends up crying, and nothing lives up to hype. That said, I have always thought that a NYE wedding would be amazing! A perfectly planned party just ready for you to show up and have an awesome time, everyone is already in a celebratory mood, and you get to dress fancy and dance all night! It sounded like perfection, but I had never been invited to one. Well, that was until Anne and Ryan told me they had decided on New Year’s Eve Gatsby Wedding at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax. Mind = blown with excitement!
I knew Anne and Ryan would throw a top notch wedding and I was so honoured when they ask me to come photograph it all! They came to Ottawa for their spring engagement session and then we packed all our gear in our carry on bags (which was the best choice since someone took my checked bag by mistake – although it was found quickly) and off we went to Halifax for New Years! We knew December 31st could go either way with East Coast weather and the day was pretty freaking chilly in the end. Luckily, the Lord Nelson Hotel was the perfect backdrop for their Gatsby theme and every detail was beautifully planned out.
