I am truly a lucky person when it comes to a number of things.
1. I am tall enough to reach the highest shelf in my kitchen, therefore maximizing my useable cupboard space
2. I can drive a standard vehicle, so no one has a legit reason to not be able to lend me their car
3. I have prescription glasses for reading, but I can choose to wear them when not reading if my outfit needs a smarty-pants accessory
4. I have awesome Step-parents and I rarely feel the urge to yell ‘YOU ARE NOT MY REAL MOM/DAD!’ (To be honest I have actually never had that urge… but sometimes I think it would be fun just to add a little drama to family dinner).
My Step dad is pretty cool, but he is not the focus of this blog post. The real star is my Step-mom Melinda. She is fabulous for so many reasons, including but not limited to her desert baking, her choice of ride (she rolls around in a red Cooper Mini) and her ability to put up with my dad’s ridiculous sense of humour. On top of her genuine thoughtful nature, she is also a master crafter. I don’t mean she sits around bedazzling her jeans; this woman actually has 2 workshops filled with power tools and everything else you could imagine.
Her creations regularly blow my mind and today I wanted to share with you some of her candle holder collections. They are all hand made from reclaimed wood and trees that have fallen. Every time I see a new set I think of how they would make gorgeous centerpieces for a wedding. Who wants a vase with flowers that will be dead in a few days when you can have these handcrafted gorgeous candle holders decorating your venue?
If you are intrigued by this idea just let me know and I will pass her contact information on to you. She does custom orders and is lovely to deal with.
