So, as you may remember, Brent and I went off exploring Iceland last year. Yes, I said LAST YEAR and only now am I actually going through the photos! #PhotographerFail
As I am gearing up for wedding season (aka when I take lots of pictures of other people) I figured it was about time that I get caught up on documenting my own life!
Alright, back to Iceland! We took a quick 5 night trip there in September and took advantage of the cheap flights from Montreal to Reykjavik with WOW Airlines! We spent the first few days exploring Reykjavik (which kind of reminded me of a quirky Halifax) and then picked up a rental car and headed out on the road. Rural Iceland is where it is at!
The street art in Iceland was bananas. We would just stroll around a corner and *BAM* an entire building side turned into a piece of art with the most incredible colours and images.
Oh, and the view from the top of Hallgrímskirkja was not to shabby either.
On our way out of town we landed in Vik to stroll the hills, take in the views, and check out the black sand beach.
I tried really hard to blend into the landscape in my rain jacket… clearly that was not a success.
Sometimes Brent and I should not be left unattended. I’m surprised they let us ride the plane without supervision. #BigKids
We spent the night at a horse farm and got up nice and early to hitch a trail ride with some Icelandic Horses! After we grabbed some food it was back off chasing waterfalls! (Anyone else singing some TLC right now? *Don’t go chasing waterfalls. Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to**)
Strokkur Geyser certainly didn’t blow. (haha – see what I did there?)
Sh*t got real when it came to the Northern Lights. You absolutely have to escape the city to really see them. #MindBlown
The next day we were up at sunrise (which was tough after running around in the middle of the night trying to photograph the Northern Lights). We followed the most ridiculous directions that I found (on the most random blog) to find this incredible turquoise waterfall! It was tucked off in the middle of nowhere and didn’t show on any maps! It took a little adventure, but we were pretty proud when we found it!
So we can take Iceland off the Bucket List (and now my photos-to-edit list!). There is so much world still left to explore. Next stop – Greece in June!

These are so gorgeous! So happy you posted these images of your adventurous travels. The northern lights are magnificent! And that turquoise lake got me singing ‘don’t go chasin waterfalls’ along with you hahaha.
